Planting Ceromony of Cedrus Atlantica in the garden of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics on 25 June, 2015

As part of the Gran Prize, the awardee received as a token of appreciation a Swedish pine tree (Cedrus Atlantica) from the Folly Arboretum founded ( Badacsonyörs ) in 1878, to be planted at the awardee’s alma mater. ’Gran’ is the Swedish word for pine tree, and the name alludes to the aspects of sustainability and environmental consciousness associated with this award.

The planting ceremony took place on Thursday, June 25 2015, at 2.00 p.m. at the office of the Rector and in the of the University.

Gábor Péceli, Rector of the University greeted the participants and presented the details of the University. Mr. Mikael Elmehed, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Sweden outlined significance of the interdisciplinary award, the Gran Prize, established by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hungary.

Mr. László Dvorszki, Director of the International Scientific Connections Division of the University, and Mr. János Pipek, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences presented the background of the Institute, where this remarkable scientific result, invention of Solumium was achieved.

Mr. Zoltán Noszticzius, Winner of the Gran Prize spoke of his thoughts about the interdisciplinary award of the Gran Prize and what winning the award means for him.  

Mr. Mikael Elmehed, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Sweden, Gábor Péceli, Rector of the University, Mr. László Dvorszki, Director of the International Scientific Connections Division of the University and Mr. János Pipek, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences then proceeded to plant the pine tree together.
