Electrolux in Hungary

Today Electrolux Lehel Ltd. is one of the biggest industrial companies in Hungary and has a significant contribution to the industrial export of the country. In 2003 our sales exceeded HUF 113 billion, representing a 17 % increase to previous year. The company sold a total of 4.3 million products to exports and on the domestic market, and further increased its profitability. Since the privatisation we have invested about HUF 40 billion and plan an additional HUF 12.9 billion investment this year. In 2003 Electrolux Lehel Kft. employed more than 3,600 people as the biggest employer of the Northern Plane Region.

Social Responsibility

Today's economy is characterised by tough, sometimes cruel market competition, a continuous struggle for survival. We are chasing investors, chasing customers, fight with authorities and bureaucracy. In this spinning world we should not forget about our environment, about our fellow citizens: our communities, towns, children, the needy and the outcasts, the ones who might be the most important on the long run. Every year Electrolux Lehel Kft. supports mass sports and recreational activities in Jászberény, the „Maci” nursery and the well-known “Kézenfogva” Foundation. We spend significant amounts to sponsor culture (festivals, programmes, museums).

The aim of Electrolux's environmental strategy is to play a leading role in developing and employing environmentally friendly technologies, to actively influence the use of environmentally protective products. We produce and sell environmentally friendly products in Hungary. Between 1991 and 1997 we carried out the most important environment rehabilitation project in Hungary. In 1998 we established the first refrigerator recycling plant in the country. Our corporation has had an ISO 14001 qualification since 1998.
